I want to begin a more lengthy post here about a special piece of work which became a library campaign when the people needed it most. LAFE stands for Libraries are for Everyone. When immigration became even more of a hot issue during the last presidential election, libraries around the US and internationally stood up by posting these posters or sporting a button stating that everyone was welcome through the doors. The creator, Rebecca McCorkindale, a librarian by day and blogger by night (check out her blog, hafuboti.com). She is actually the he assistant library director and creative director at the Gretna, Nebraska Library. It was especially kind of her to take time out of her busy schedule to send me so many of her intimate interactions during the height of this campaign. I feel it is a significant work which will stand the test of time.
Rebecca has also been collecting other languages to post internationally, these examples are listed on her blog, along with other versions.
In true Maker fashion, she happily encourages anyone to borrow her work, under creative commons. No need to add her name anywhere, just don’t the credit if asked!
**Stay tuned for personal interactions from Rebecca and places all over the world who are proudly displaying this campaign, advocating for ALL their users!
